September 29, 2006: The scoreless streaked ended Friday night in Highland Home at four games for the Brantley Bulldogs. Brantley was the only team in Alabama that had not given up a single point for the season prior to tonight's game. In the second quarter with the Bulldogs out front 14-0 and facing 4th down deep in their own territory, punter Landon Morgan had the snap sail over his head and out of the end zone to give Highland Home the first two points against the Bulldog's defense in the 2006 season. This made the score 14-2; but, the Bulldogs of Brantley were well on their way to their 5th win of the season against no defeats. That was as close as the Flying Squadron were able to get. Brantley has won 39 of their last 40 regular season games. Senior running back James Pittman put on one of the finest performances of his career in the Bulldogs 49-16 victory. He had 3 touchdowns that included a 90 yard run, a 45 yard run, and a 70 yard kick-off return. He had 168 yards on 9 carries in his stellar performance. Jeffrey Daniels had two touchdown runs while quarterback Jonathan Helms connected with Terry McClain on a 14 yard scoring pass in the first period. Landon Morgan intercepted a pass and return it for a touchdown to get in the scoring column for the Dawgs. Highland did add two touchdowns for the game with Squardon quarterback Desmond Stankey putting on an outstanding performance running and passing the ball. Defensively, Brantley was brilliant even though they gave up the first 16 points of the season to be scored on them. Landon Morgan had two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), Jon Tyson had 2 interceptions, and Roy L. Knighten added an interception to his terrific play for the night. The Bulldogs played an outstanding game as they improve their record to 5-0. The Bulldogs travel to McKenzie next Friday night in a Region 2 game.
