I need to do a little explaining here.  We all like to shoot black powder, be it a front loader or a cartage!  Choctaw has an original Springfield 1873 trapdoor in 45/70 that had never been fired when he bought it several years ago.  Rosebud has a Browning Hi-Wall, a Sharps, and a Remington Rolling Block, all in 45/70.  Not enough bandwidth to tell of all the ones that Ax has.   He only brought a Hi Wall 40/65 and a 38/55 with him to Rendezvous.  (Cartage guns that is;)

Before Rendezvous started, we decided that we would "step" out of our pre 1840 time period for a day or two.  Choctaw and Rosebud built a "homemade" bench rest between two trees with one post at the rear.  We then cleared out the limbs and vines so that you could see a little over 1/8th of mile down river.

Badleg and Ax took a canoe down river and hung a large steel plate, by chains from a tree.  You cannot see it in the above picture, but you can see between the trees down river.  Below is a telephoto (10X) of this being accomplished.

They are headed down river as far as you can see.   On the far bank, just above the canoe there is a log in the river and this is where the target was hung.  The cedar limbs that you see hanging above the canoe to the left, ended up in the way of the target, and several got shot off during the course of the week.

Here Medicine Man is hold a Sharps 45/70 as Ax and Rosebud talk things over.

This is the only picture that you can "almost" see the Target.
Ax gets out a round for Lopping Turtle, holding the Sharps.
I put the white streak on the picture to show the Target

And finally Badleg the left hander takes his turn!

Choctaw shot it many times, but he was the one with the camera.......;)
